Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Tasbeeh Counter app on Google Play handles data. By using the app, you acknowledge that you have read this policy.

1. Summary

• Your dhikr lists, folders, counter history, and settings are stored on your device.
• No account and no sign-in are required.
• Only if you join a shared khatm group are the group name, the name you use there and your juz status stored on a server (see section 4).
• App data is not included in Android system / Google automatic backup.
• Internet may be used for Quran content, update notices, and seasonal content.
• If the app crashes, a crash report is sent for debugging (Google Firebase Crashlytics).
• On Android, the app connects to RevenueCat with an anonymous ID to check subscription status (see section 6).

2. Data stored on your device

The following are kept locally on your device:

• Folders and dhikr entries, counter values, favorites
• Daily statistics summaries and usage time
• App settings (language, theme, reminder time, etc.)
• Optional counter background images you choose

By default this data is not sent to our servers. Uninstalling the app or clearing app data may delete these records.

3. Internet use

The app may use an internet connection for:

• Quran translation / content files
• App update notices
• Seasonal / special-day content

These requests are for delivering content, not for building marketing profiles.

4. Shared khatm groups

The rest of the app works offline; data is stored on a server (Google Firebase Firestore, European region) only if you create or join a shared khatm group:

• The group name and its 6-character join code
• The name you use in that group — a nickname is fine, your real name is never required
• Which juz you took or completed, and when
• An anonymous identity specific to your device, created with Google Firebase Authentication: it is not tied to your name, email or phone number. While creating and using this identity, Firebase Authentication processes your IP address and device/browser information (user agent).
• If you report a group, the report record and the description you wrote

The group name and the name you use are visible to the other members of that group. Groups are not public: someone without the code cannot see a group, and groups are never listed or searchable. This data is not used for advertising or profiling and is not sold to third parties.

Where data is processed: group records are stored in the European region of Firebase Firestore. Firebase Authentication runs only in data centers in the United States. So when you use shared khatm, your data is processed outside your country.

Deletion: when you leave a group, your membership record is deleted. When the person who created a group deletes it, all of the group's records are deleted. Even after you leave a group, your name stays on the juz you finished until the group is deleted. Groups are not deleted automatically after a period of time; they stay on the server until the person who created them deletes them. The anonymous identity record stays in Firebase Authentication unless you ask us to delete it; Firebase keeps the IP addresses linked to it for a few weeks. The anonymous identity belongs to your device, so if you delete the app or change devices you lose access to it. For any other deletion request, write to the address below. A personal khatm (one you keep on your own) stays entirely on your device; nothing is sent to a server. For the rules of use, see the Terms of Use.

5. Crash reports

When the app crashes, a crash report is sent via Google Firebase Crashlytics so we can find and fix the problem. The report includes information such as the device model, operating system version, and the technical details of the error; your dhikr entries, counters, and statistics are not included. Crash reports are used only to fix bugs; they are not used for advertising or profiling. Crashlytics runs on Google’s global infrastructure; reports are kept for 90 days, after which Google starts the process of deleting them.

6. Purchases and subscriptions

Payments are handled entirely by Google Play; we never have access to your card or payment details. When the Android app opens, it connects to the subscription management service RevenueCat with an anonymous user ID specific to your device to check subscription status. If you make a purchase, the product ID and transaction status are also shared with RevenueCat. RevenueCat processes this data in the United States.

7. Permissions

• Notifications: optional daily reminder
• Vibration, sound, keep screen awake: in-app experience
• Internet: for the content and notices above

8. Children

The app is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

9. Updates

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. The current version is always published on this page. For important changes we may also use the Play Store listing or an in-app notice. Please check this page periodically.

10. Data controller and your rights

• What we process and why: shared khatm group records (group name, the name you use, juz status, anonymous identity, reports) to provide the group feature; crash reports to fix bugs; subscription information to verify purchases.
• How it is collected: electronically while you use the app, either automatically or from the information you enter.
• Legal basis: processing is necessary to provide the features you use, and our legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and safe.
• Recipients and transfers: data is shared with our service providers Google (Firebase) and RevenueCat for the purposes described on this page. Their servers are located in Europe and the United States, so your data is processed outside your country.
• Your rights: you can ask whether we process your data, request access to it, have it corrected or deleted, object to its processing, and learn who it has been shared with. Depending on where you live (for example under Turkey’s KVKK or the EU GDPR), you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
